what does arz do?
Proactively works to prevent child prostitution, including illegal dedication
of young girls as temple prostitutes or "devadasis" and rescues girls
and
women who wish to escape from prostitution.
Also works to bring about change within the red-light district community
in which child prostitution flourishes.
Repatriates trafficked minors where it is safe to do so, and provides
shelter where the circumstances for repatriation are uncertain or unsafe.
Manages counselling, health, awareness, community support programmes.
Administers education and skills training for income generating occupations,
including a tailoring scheme.
Provides legal support for victims and drives legal action against
perpetrators (traffickers, brothel-keepers, pimps etc).
Offers education and alternative income generation training schemes for
perpetrators (mainly women) who genuinely want to leave the business,
but are prevented from doing so by their own economic circumstances.
Leads crime prevention and political lobbying programmes to change the
law and cultural attitudes to women, and girls.
Provides day centres and youth clubs for the community.
